A Smarter Way to Build: GreenWell’s New Clipping System
At GreenWell, we’ve taken our recycled plastic lumber to the next level with a hidden fastening system that delivers speed, savings, and stunning results. Instead of relying on the traditional top-down screw method, we now rout grooves into the sides of our boards, allowing them to lock into place with clips—the same reliable system long used with composite decking.
The benefits are clear:
Cheaper than screws – fewer fasteners, less hardware cost.
Faster installation – clips slide in quickly and set spacing automatically.
Cleaner finish – no exposed screws, no mushrooming, no visual clutter.
Real Decks, Real Results
Our new clipping system has already been tested in the field, with three standout projects:
Yogesh’s Deck – A warm combination of Walnut and Sand colours that shows how hidden fasteners let the board colours shine without interruption.
Craig’s Deck – Sand-coloured field boards framed in a bold Black border, installed seamlessly with clips for a high-end look.
Kevin’s Deck – A modern Grey deck, where the consistent spacing and screw-free surface highlight the clean lines of the design.
Best Practices for a Long-Lasting Deck
When building with GreenWell plastic lumber and our new clipping system, we recommend:
Picture-Frame Your Deck – Surround the field boards with a clean border. This not only looks best, but it keeps inside boards locked in place while still allowing movement.
Use Breaker Boards – Installed perpendicular to the deck direction, breaker boards let interior rows expand and contract without pushing against the borders.
Avoid Butt Joints – They can open with seasonal movement. Where longer runs are needed, breaker boards are the stronger, cleaner option.
Secure Borders if Needed – While clips do the work for field boards, face fastening may be necessary on border or picture-frame boards to keep them tight.
These details make sure the natural expansion and contraction of plastic lumber happen with no long-term consequences.
Sustainable, Durable, Beautiful
Every GreenWell deck is made from 100% recycled HDPE plastic, diverting landfill waste into a product that outlasts wood, resists rot and moisture, and now installs as cleanly as any composite system on the market. With faster installs, lower costs, and a premium look, our clipping system makes it easier than ever to build sustainably—without compromise.
